Patek Philippe. A late 19th Century perpetual calendar minute repeating moon phase hunter pocket watch.
Case No.48389, first retailed April 19th 1881. The keyless movement with polished steel hammers striking a gong, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer five minute divisions, gold spade hands, subsidiary dials for months and leap year indication, days, date, running seconds with phases and age of the moon, polished hinged round case with slide repeat in the band and setting buttons in the bezel, cuvette signed
55mm.
  • This watch is known to have belonged to the current owners great Grandfather, the respected businessman, Thomas Whitemore Chant. It is believed this was presented to him for ‘good works in the City of London’. Mr Chant was highly regarded and had dealings with various organisations at the highest level, twice being asked to be an Alderman of the City. It is also believed that one of these organisations purchased the watch, but it is not known which. Mr Chant died in 1927 leaving the watch as a specific bequest to the current owners Grandfather and it has stayed in the family ever since.The 6 Complications are;- Minute Repeat
